The recent immigration reform has stirred up many students here in Southern California and other states. It is my opinion that most of the students don't know what they are actually protesting and of course I never really think that the government has a clue what they are doing. This is America. Like it or not the flag is here to stay, we do have laws, and there are many issues that need to be resolved. We need to make it less complicated for immigrants to enter the United States for work or to be citizens, especially the hard working people of Mexico that help keep this country together on a daily basis. We also need to protect our borders from those who could inflict harm. I'm sure a solution can be made from this and why this is being put on a burner while congress takes a two week vacation is beyond me.

Does anyone think it possible that the whole renewed focus on immigration law just might be an interesting tactical diversion to take the eyes of the growing debacle in Iraq? What is the US soldier body count as of today?
It is interesting to me that 1000's of fellow "Americans"??? take to the streets in support of illegal immigrants, but not once have I seen that same massive enthusiasm in an anti-war protest since the 1970's. Where are those protesters now???
And what is with the closing of Walter Reed? One week I see a documentary on all of the wonderful rehab work they do for the soldiers who've lost limbs in the war, and the next week I hear it is closing. Is that supporting the troops? Can anyone clarify that for me? Where are the protesters to support the American soldiers and veterans who lost life and limb? Where are they???
It is also reassuring to know that very soon Canadians will be required to present a valid passport to enter the US. Yes, those Canadians are a threatening bunch of evil doers, we'd better watch out for them!!! Never EVER take your eye off a Canadian. HAHA!
How many unidentified Katrina corpses were displaced when the FEMA DNA ID lab was closed due to lack of funding? Where are they now? Were all those FEMA trailers moved from Hope, AR to the people who needed them, or are they still sitting in Hope? Where are they now?

The current tally for American Deaths in Iraq is approaching 2500 which is not nearly as many as Iraqi slodiers and civilians that have perished. Or wounded American soldier ration is about 17,500. I agree with you on the "where are the war protestor" issues. The fact is that the majority of the people protesting the immigration reform are students that have been suprisingly enough herded out into the streets by word of mouth and messages on the internet. There are protesters here in California although they have weekly standard protests that seem ineffective. It seems that the war doesnt seem so important any more to people here. Maybe we should stop recruiting soldiers from the ghetto and get some of the families that live a fancy free life to give up one their own. How about the BUSH girls? Lets indoctrinate them into the casualtie hall of fame and then see where we stand on the "war on terrorism". Hey... if you think I'm not bitter about whats going on in the world today. Think again. I'm pretty upset about everything. There is more than likely a site in every locality in the world with an organization that is protesting the war. Do your part and get involved. Get off the couch and away from CNN and MSNBC and show your colors, be proud, and maybe save some lives. Iran may be the next stop for the Axis of Terror Tour and if more people dont get involved and have an effect on the outcome of Planet Earth, then we only have ourselves to blame. I am in total agreement with you, except on one point. This war isn't about oil anymore than it is about building a democratic society in the middle east. I used to think it too until I was recently enlightened. Actually, the oil argument is the one that the dissenters are supposed to buy into, but given that Canada is the #1 supplier of oil to the USA, and given than hydrogen as a fuel source for auto's was perfected years ago: it isn't about oil. It seems it is more about the American dollar, the increasing threat of the Euro and other world currency market pressures. It is a complicated theory, but facinating and also explains why the Bush admin is tied to the Saudi's and why the US is now eyeing Iran as a 2nd target. Essentially in a nutshell, the US wants the world to accept a devalued US dollar for their goods (huge trade deficit right?) But if other nations refused US dollars, and instead demanded gold for payment, like the USA did when supplying the EU allies during WWII, then the US $ would become virtually worthless. So, in a promise to support the House of Saud back in the 1970's, the Saudi's agreed to ensure that OPEC would only ever accept US currency for oil. By doing so, the demand for US currency is ensured as every other country must sell their goods to the US and accept US currency for payment. When Iraq began discussions with France and other nations about accepting the Euro for oil, Saddam became the #1 target of the US. Now, Iran in the Oil Borse has begun talking with other nations (China, Russia) about accepting other non-US currencies for Oil, and guess who is now falling into the "cross hairs" of the Bush Admin who we must truly believe has not ruled out the nuclear option on Iran to force a change of leadership.
As a side: I think if a US President is going to declare war on a nation that potentially poses a "nuclear threat" it should be required that said President can at least pronounce the word "nuclear"!

It is also a known fact that when the current admin wants to influence something they rely heavily on the use of the internet. Case in point: 100,000's of emails sent to FCC concerning Howard Stern, most of which originated with a few mass mailings from the right wing. So the question is: can the RW rally students thru the use of the internet to divert attention away from the fact that USMC recruiters are cruzing the malls for their gun fodder? F-911 had an interesting scene where M Moore approaches law makers with enlistment forms for their kids to sign up for Iraq. "Some American kids went to war, the rest of them went to the mall." The Bush girls.....ha!

I have even seen people on EBAY Charging 25 dollars for this information and encouraging people to buy Euro Dollars. Who knows where this will go down the line. I just hope that when I am in a hurry and need to have a nourishing meal, that I can still get a Falafel Sandwich and a Diet Coke for under 5 Bucks.

Some pride that you'd sooner vow loyalty to a country you may have never lived in or forsakened than one that offers you a better life or offers more/superior services. I'm all for fixing probles in the U.S.- there's a shit load of it- but this just makes them look like biased dicks.
